IN MY SHOES
WILLOW
Hadar Orshalimy & Sheldon Low
Willow
Old as the river
Forced to fight for even ground
While they tried to cut you down
Your body bows
Seasons come and they go
Put your soul inside a seed
Made me bloom and watched me grow
And I was small but you made me strong
You lifted my eyes so I'd grow up and touch the sky
I'm standing where you lay
I'm running where you stood
I'm climbing over walls you knew you'd never cross and hoped your daughters would
And if I never reach the destination that we've all been dreaming for
I’ll pave the path for those come next
'Cause I’m not ready yet to give it up
Lily sweet as the dewdrops
In a forest dark as night
Old boy branches block my light
and I knew the score
You fought to give me more
Where the canopy once stood
Now the treetops make my floor
And I was small but you made me strong
You lifted my eyes so I'd grow up and touch the sky
I'm standing where you lay
I'm running where you stood
I'm climbing over walls you knew you'd never cross and hoped your daughters would
And if I never reach the destination that we've all been dreaming for
I’ll pave the path for those come next
'Cause I’m not ready yet to give it up
Pruned up and mowed down
Like a wildflower in his garden
And forests don’t grow over night
Though I may wither long before the winning day
I know at least I’ve planted seeds
And one day they will say
I'm standing where you lay
I'm running where you stood
I'm climbing over walls you knew you'd never cross and hoped your daughters could
And if I never reach the destination that we've all been dreaming of
I’ll pave the path for those come next
'Cause I’m not ready yet to give it up
